Arsenal provide update on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's availability against Manchester United

Mikel Arteta admits it is still unclear whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will feature for Arsenal against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Gunners have struck form recently but have been forced to deal without key attacker Aubameyang for their last two games due to his mother suffering from health problems.

Aubameyang said on Wednesday that he was now able to return home but it is currently unclear whether he will be able to face United.

Arteta said it was a case of waiting and seeing,

"I don’t know, I spoke with him yesterday things are looking better at the moment but we have to wait and see," Arteta said on Thursday.

"He’s our captain and one of the most important players we are doing everything we can to have him back as quickly as possible but understanding that he’s been through a difficult few days that he had to support his family.

"We are here to support him with the time he needed to get that sorted."

Arteta was asked if Aubameyang would have to quarantine if he left the country but the Arsenal boss was unsure.

He said: "He had to support his family and be with them. I don't know what will happen."

The Gunners have received one availability boost, however, with Thomas Partey expected to be fit for the game.

Partey limped off during Tuesday's win over Southampton, raising fears he may miss Saturday's match and Arteta played it coy in his press conference over whether the midfielder and Emile Smith Rowe would be fit.

Yet subsequent reports have claimed that Partey has recovered well, leading to confidence he will be able to feature.

Influential left-back Kieran Tierney has also been spotted in training ahead of the game after missing three of Arsenal's last four matches.
