Arsenal provide injury update on four players ahead of Napoli second leg

Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez has not travelled for the Europa League clash with Napoli.

Suarez has struggled during his loan spell from Barcelona , making just six substitute appearances for the Gunners.

His last outing came over a month ago and Suarez wasn't even on the bench for the win over Watford on Monday.

Arsenal have confirmed Suarez has been struggling with a groin problem and will not play any part in the quarter-final second leg.

Suarez's agent had previously suggested Denis Suarez's agent reveals potential next club - and it's not Arsenal with a permanent transfer to the Emirates likely to be off the table.

Arsenal also provided an update on long-term injury absentees Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding.

None of the three players are likely to feature again this season with Welbeck back out on the training field taking part in ball work.

Defender Holding is also progressing well as he goes through the final stages of his gym rehabiliation.

Arsenal confirmed Bellerin is continuing his post-surgery recovery after the operation on his left knee.

Granit Xhaka explains why Arsenal will prioritise top four over Europa League

The Gunners face Napoli on Thursday night with Valencia likely lying in wait in the Europa League semi-finals.

Unai Emery's side lead 2-0 from the first leg at the Emirates and will be confident of finishing off the job in Italy.

Arsenal also returned to the top four on Monday night by beating Watford with Champions League qualification up for grabs.

Speaking this week, midfielder Granit Xhaka suggested Arsenal will prioritise finishing in the top four over the European trophy.

“We want to stay in the top four and we want to be in the Champions League next season. For me, the Premier League comes first and if you can go to the final and take the Europa League, of course it is nice as well," he said.

“I think we need different character away. It is not always easy to play, we have to take on the duels, we have to win the duels, and if you do that you can win the game."
