Arsenal predicted lineup vs Wolves with Mikel Arteta set to alter attacking shape

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will stick with a back three against Wolves on Saturday, after seeing it lead to an upturn in results for the Gunners.

Having lost their opening two games of the season’s restart operating with a back four, the Spaniard moved to a back three and wing-backs against Southampton last week.

Three points and a clean sheet followed, and were promptly joined by an FA Cup quarter-final win over Sheffield United.

Arsenal stuck with the 3-4-3 formation against Norwich this Wednesday, and promptly thrashed the Canaries at the Emirates, running out 4-0 winners.

Now they head to Molineux, against a Wolves side with three straight wins themselves since the Premier League resumption, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men eyeing a Champions League spot.

And again they are set to stick with three centre-halves and wing-backs, against the side who arguably uses the back three system best in the Premier League, a Wolves side who haven't conceded in their last four league matches.

In an attempt to add greater solidity against Wanderers, and combat Wolves’ Portuguese midfield pair Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves, Arteta is set to alter his attacking shape.

Youngster Reiss Nelson, who started against Norwich, looks set to drop to the bench, with Joe WIllock getting the nod.

England Under-21 international Willock will slot into a central midfield position slightly in advance of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos, thus allowing captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - fresh from two goals in midweek - to operate from a central striking spot alongside Alexandre Lacazette.

Elsewhere, Rob Holding is set to start ahead of Sead Kolasinac, with David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi keeping their spots in defence.

Emiliano Martinez continues in goal in Bernd Leno’s absence.

Arsenal likely starting XI: Martinez; Mustafi, Luiz, Holding; Bellerin, Xhaka, Ceballos, Willock, Tierney; Aubameyang, Lacazette.
