Arsenal predicted line-up and team news for Premier League clash with Everton

New Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will get to watch his new Arsenal side in action for the first time since his appointment when they travel to former club Everton on Saturday.

Arteta was named as the Gunners' permanent boss on a three-and-a-half-year deal on Friday, but fans will have to wait to see how he shakes up the squad.

With the Spaniard not set to officially take up his new role until Sunday, interim boss Freddie Ljungberg will lead the Gunners for the final time at Goodison Park.

And the Swede will be forced into a number of changes from the side that lost 3-0 to Manchester City on Sunday as he faces a defensive crisis.

With Sead Kolasinac ruled out until January with an ankle ligament injury he sustained last weekend and Kieran Tierney sidelined until March following surgery on his dislocated shoulder, Arsenal will have no recognised left-backs against the Toffees.

They will also be without centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who will serve a one-match after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against City.

Meanwhile, trio Hector Bellerin (hamstring), Rob Holding (knee) and Mesut Ozil (foot) continue to be assessed ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

It means that Bukayo Saka is expected to start at left-back after replacing Kolasinac laster weekend, while David Luiz is expected to partner Calum Chambers in central defence.

One boost for Arsenal is the return of Granit Xhaka from concussion, and the Switzerland international partner Lucas Torreira or Matteo Guendouzi in the midfield.

After impressing in recent outings, Gabriel Martinelli and record-signing Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli could keep their places in the starting XI, with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

There could also be returns for either Joe Willock or Alexandre Lacazette, depending on Ozil's fitness.

The German was rarely used by Unai Emery, but Arteta has hinted that he will be a big part of his plans going forward.

"He is a massive player for this football club," said Arteta on Friday. "I worked with him, I know when he ticks, what he can bring to the team. It's my job to get the best out of him."

Arsenal predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Maitland-Niles, Luiz, Chambers, Saka; Torreira, Xhaka; Pepe, Ozil, Martinelli; Aubameyang
