It’s not too long until Arsenal are back in Premier League action.
The Gunners kick off their 2020/21 campaign in a London derby at Craven Cottage as they take on newly-promoted Fulham.
That game kicks off at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 12, less than two weeks away.
Ahead of the match, Arsenal have been stepping up their preparations. They started their season on a high by lifting the Community Shield against Liverpool last weekend.
It was Arsenal’s second piece of silverware in a month after lifting the FA Cup at the start of August.
As they continue their pre-season campaign, an Arsenal team played a behind closed doors against fellow London team Queens Park Rangers.
The game took place at Arsenal’s training ground, and the contest finished 4-3 to Arsenal.
QPR have confirmed that they took the lead through defender Ossie Kakay before Arsenal responded to fire themselves into a 3-1 lead.
QPR, though, did fight their way back to 3-3 through goals from Bright Osayi-Samuel and Todd Kane, but Arsenal won it 4-3 late on.
The Championship club have not confirmed who scored for the Gunners.
The Gunners’ team was said to be made up of a mixture of first-team and U23 players, with midfielder Miguel Azeez appearing to be included in the Arsenal squad, after posting a picture of his shirt on social media before the match.
Reflecting on the contest at London Colney, Mark Warburton, the QPR manager, said: This was a really useful workout for both teams, and I would like to express my thanks to everyone at Arsenal for their hospitality.
“The application of the players was excellent and I was really pleased with the way we moved the ball against world-class opposition, and created chances.
“To have this sort of test is useful for the players because it tests them from a physical and tactical perspective."
