Arsenal post brilliant Invincibles message as Liverpool fall to shock Watford defeat

Arsenal's record remains intact.

The Gunners' stunning unbeaten record had looked under threat this season, with Liverpool beating all before them.

Liverpool posted 25 wins and one draw in their first 26 games of the season to steam roller everyone at the top of the Premier League table.

Those 26 games, added to 18 at the end of last season meant the Reds were on an astonishing 44-game unbeaten run.

Jurgen Klopp's side were chasing two incredible records. They were 11 games away from going a whole season unbeaten and matching, and in fact bettering Arsenal's Invincibles of the 2003/04 campaign.

Arteta believes Aubameyang doesn't need titles to be considered world-class

And they were five games away from matching the Gunners' 49-game unbeaten streak from that Invincibles year and the start of the following season.

Then they came across Watford - a side threatened by relegation - and came unstuck, in a huge way.

Ismaila Sarr was the tormentor in chief, scoring two and laying on another for Troy Deeney in an extraordinary 3-0 victory.

And Liverpool's defeat has been toasted by all those connected with Arsenal, who were concerned that their incredible record would be broken.

The Gunners fans have been delighted with the result at Vicarage Road and they're not the only ones, Arsenal themselves have responded to the result.

The official Twitter account @Arsenal tweeted following the final whistle just one word - "Phew."

That led to a strong response from the Gunners supporters, many of whom replied to the tweet with pictures of Arsene Wenger - the manager of that Invincibles team.

It's clear to see that everyone at Arsenal is breathing a sigh of relief.
