Arsenal players worried about tactical decisions made by Unai Emery in Liverpool defeat

Unai Emery's tactics have been the source of some concern for the Arsenal squad.

The Spaniard took the reins from Arsene Wenger in 2018 after the legendary Gunners boss stood down following 22 years in charge of the north London club.

He oversaw some promising results in his first season and was then handed a larger-than-expected transfer budget to spend in the summer window.

But the jury is still out on Emery, for the most part, as detailed by the Mirror's chief football writer John Cross, and there are a few reasons for this.

Perhaps the most alarming from a Gunners fan's perspective is that some of the players are worried by the Spaniard's tactics.

Ahead of the Liverpool game in August the Arsenal team were anticipating a difficult afternoon against two of the best full backs in world football.

But both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson found acres of space down the flanks, which wasn't picked up on and fixed by Emery.

Not only this but the Spaniard still has a poor command of the English language.

This has resulted in Emery struggling to articulate his point to the Arsenal team, and him failing to get his ideals across has become a bit of a joke among the squad.

Arsenal thumped Championship opposition Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup last time out.

The Gunners take on Liverpool in the next round looking for an improved result following the 3-1 defeat in the league in August.
