Arsenal players in 'angry' training ground showdown ahead of crunch Tottenham clash

Arsenal stars were involved in a heated intra-squad discussion as manager Mikel Arteta aimed to clear the air, according to reports.

The Gunners are in a spell of poor form with three consecutive home defeats and five losses in their first 10 games in the Premier League.

Arsenal's disastrous start to the league season is their worst since the 1981/82 campaign and Arteta is desparate for his side to quickly lift themselves from 14th place.

To do so, the Spaniard assembled his squad to discuss the reasons behind recent losses, such as the 2-1 defeat to Wolves at the Emirates last weekend.

That's according to ESPN , which adds a "stormy and intense" second discussion took place between players once coaching staff had departed.

The player-only talks started with blame being laid on certain stars but it is believed they ended with the squad on the same page, with a renewed desire to back Arteta.

Meanwhile, in the first discussion, Arteta informed his players he is still looking into the source of a leak which released details of a training ground bust-up between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos.

The Arsenal boss has since insisted there is "no problem" between the pair, while his attention is now fully set on Sunday's clash at Tottenham.

Though their local rivals lead the Premier League and Arsenal are without an away win at Spurs since 2014, Arteta believes the North London derby is the best possible fixture to get his side back on track.

He told Sky Sports : "I think it is the perfect game to get a lift, regenerate some belief in the league because in the other competitions we have been very good but we need a big result.

"And I cannot think about any better scenario than that - to go and beat them and change things dramatically in one game."
