Arsenal player ratings vs Tottenham as Xhaka and Saliba are immense and Saka superb

Aaron Ramsdale: Was at fault for the Spurs penalty as he was too eager to chase Richarlison wide, but at the same time his sweeping was so good in the rest of the game, that feels like a risk you have to accept with Ramsdale. His save from Richarlison to keep the game at 0-0 early on was sublime. 7.

Ben White: One assist for Partey's goal and could have had more. Was superb in his attacking contribution and did an excellent job of using possession economically on the edge of the box to ensure Spurs were pinned back for as long as possible in the first half. 8.

William Saliba: A sublime display from the 21-year-old who had one of the best strikers in world football in his back pocket. Supreme composure was shown throughout exemplified by his dribbling out from the edge of the box despite being under extreme pressure in the first half. Such an exciting player. 9.

Gabriel: Dived in recklessly for the penalty in a moment where he lost his head and did appear to get caught up in the emotion of the game. As it's a win we can say that was ultimately a positive as evidenced by his ongoing battle with Harry Kane in the second half, but could have been costly for Arsenal. 6.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: Looked a little off the pace throughout on his first game back from a calf injury. Never particularly convincing in defence, while his passing wasn't as crisp as usual. 6.

Thomas Partey: Finally managed to hammer one in from the edge of the box at the 65th attempt! Superb in possession and defensively switched on throughout. A good return to the side for the Ghanaian. 8.

Granit Xhaka: Another complete midfield performance from the Swiss international. May have been a little at fault for the penalty but will be forgiven for his display. Showed the leadership required to stick up for Martinelli after Royal's awful challenge and rounded things off with a calmly taken finish. 9.

Martin Odegaard: Not the most influential game for the Norwegian who didn't manage to unpick the tightly picked lock that was the Spurs back line early on, but showed some nice touches. 7.

Bukayo Saka: Caused Spurs all manner of problems down the right by constantly cutting in and looking to get a shot off. Created the second goal with this unstoppable approach. 8.

Gabriel Jesus: Popped up with a scrappy goal and could have had more on a day where he was excellent again. Close control, excellent pressing and the fight Arsenal needed in such a big match. 8.

Gabriel Martinelli: Was a threat to Emerson Royal throughout the game and maybe even got in his compatriot's head a little to cause the red card challenge. An assist for Xhaka's goal and great threat from the left. 8.

SUBSTITUTES -

Albert Sambi Lokonga: A wise choice from Mikel Arteta to give the Belgian a chance at the base of the midfield with low stakes at the end. Coped well and was defensively focused. 7

Kieran Tierney: Defended well with a no nonsense approach that was needed to help Arsenal close down the game late on. Will be keen to regain his place with an impressive display in midweek against Bodo. 7.

Fabio Vieira: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.

Eddie Nketiah: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.

Takehrio Tomiyasu: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
