Arsenal player ratings as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe star in Newcastle win

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe grabbed quickfire goals before Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette got in on the act late on to secure a deserved victory for Arsenal over Newcastle.

After a nervy first half, the Gunners started the second period brightly and were rewarded for their pressure when Aubameyang broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, heading home a Pepe cross to give his side the lead.

Three minutes after going in front, Arsenal doubled their lead. Bukayo Saka put the ball through Valentino Lazaro's legs before finding Pepe who directed a left-footed strike into the back of the net.

Ozil and Lacazette then added late goals to make sure of the victory.

Here's how John Cross rated the Arsenal players at the Emirates...

Lots of energy down the right, did well to keep up with Saint-Maximin.

Decent understanding with Mustafi. Words you never thought you’d read.

Celebrated opening goal like it meant the world. Very good second half.

Always looking for openings and angles, the best creator by far.

Scored, provided two assists, the £72m man is finally getting there…

Scored 17th goal of the season, should he really be playing wide, though?

His first Premier League start, should have scored. Not quite ready.
