Arsenal plan fresh loan for Eddie Nketiah after Leeds United recall with Bristol City interested - reports

Arsenal are said to be planning a fresh loan for Eddie Nketiah in January.

The Daily Mail report that the Gunners will recall Nketiah from his loan at Leeds United and send him out elsewhere in search of more first team football.

Whilst it has been speculated for a while that Arsenal would recall Nketiah, this is the first indication of what their plans will be following his return from Elland Road, with many having previously argued the 20-year-old is good enough for a place in the Gunners' senior squad.

Former manager Unai Emery rated Nketiah highly, whilst current temporary boss Freddie Ljungberg has worked with the striker in the Gunners' under-23s and previously spoke about how he felt the player could do a job for their first team.

However, this latest news is a boost to Bristol City, who are keen on taking Nketiah on loan themselves.

The Robins were beaten to Nketiah by Leeds United in the summer, but he has made just 11 Championship appearances for Marcelo Bielsa's side, all of them from the bench.

Should the Gunners opt to recall Nketiah from Leeds, which is looking more and more likely, it leaves the Robins well placed to take him on loan.

One key indication of Arsenal's plans for Nketiah should come early in January.

Leeds are set to face Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup during the first weekend of January - a game that Nketiah will be unable to play in for the Whites against his parent club.

If Arsenal were to recall him, the only way Nketiah would be able to feature against Leeds is if he was to stay at the Gunners for the rest of the season.

That is due to rules stating that a player can only represent two clubs in one season.
