A man has been charged with assault after a fan ran on to the pitch during Sunday's Premier League match at Emirates Stadium and appeared to push Chris Smalling.

Gary Cooper, 30, of Styventon Place, Chertsey, Surrey, had been arrested on Sunday during Manchester United's game at Arsenal.

He was charged with common assault and going on to the playing area.

He was bailed to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on March 26.

It comes after a fan pleaded guilty to assaulting Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish on the pitch during the match at Birmingham City on the same day.

Paul Mitchell, 27, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday and was set to be sentenced in the afternoon.
