Arsenal picture special: Torreira, Ozil, Bellerin and Tierney train ahead of Everton visit

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium.

With Tottenham Hotspur as well as Sheffield United failing to win this weekend, the Gunners have the chance to make the fight for fifth spot - which could come with Champions League qualification - a little more interesting if they can record a third straight win across all competitions under Mikel Arteta.

With that said, the north London outfit have developed a habit of drawing games this season and the points were shared in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park earlier in the season.

However, they did win the corresponding meeting last season thanks to second half goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The duo were also on target against Newcastle United last weekend and the Frenchman netted the only goal of the game in the midweek Europa League round of 32 first-leg win over Olympiacos.

Despite an upturn in form which includes three clean sheets on the bounce, ex-Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn is expecting the Toffees to cause problems in north London.

"Arsenal have a chance of beating Everton this weekend but they’re going to have to do two things better than they did against Newcastle," he said, speaking to GentingBet( 18+ BeGambleAware) .

"Yes, it was a 4-0 scoreline that suggests it was a comfortable victory, it wasn’t. Arsenal need to improve the movement of the football forward and the risk. Against Newcastle, it was too static in the first half, playing across, nobody running in behind.

"And then again, defensively [they need to improve]. Everton are going to cause them a lot more problems going forward [than Newcastle], they’re going to put Arsenal under more pressure, so the question is how are Arsenal going to react to that and can they cope against a team that is in good form?"

In a bid to combat Everton's attacking threat, Arteta could call upon Lucas Torreira in a defensive midfield role as the Uruguay international is available again after missing the trip to Greece because of illness.

Mesut Ozil is also in contention to reclaim his place in the starting line up after staying behind in London with his wife due to give birth.

Torreira and Ozil took part in Saturday's training session alongside the likes of Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos, Eddie Nketiah and Kieran Tierney.

The latter appeared to be back in contact training while January loan signing Cedric Soares was doing some gym work, and wonderkids Daniel Ballard, Trae Coyle and Zak Swanson were also called up.
