Arsenal picture special: Pepe, Lacazette, Bellerin and Martinelli train ahead of Chelsea trip

The final preparations for Arsenal's clash against Chelsea are almost complete.

Less than a month after losing the reverse meeting 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners go in search of avenging that result which would reduce the gap between the two sides to seven points.

And head coach Mikel Arteta admits it's important the north London side come out on top in their bid to seal a return to the Champions League next season.

"It's very important if we want to have the aim to fight for that (a top four place)," he said during his pre-match press conference.

"The game at home could have made a big difference as well and we were very close to it so tomorrow we need a win."

The Gunners boss also commented on what he learned from the defeat against the Blues.

"Well a lot of things have happened and it feels longer than a month to be fair," Arteta added. "The amount of games, the (amount) we've trained, the amount of things that happened.

"Yes, a lot of things changed, a lot of positives in terms of reactions and the things they are taking on board, the way we have managed to change the energy, atmosphere, relationship and chemistry with our fans was massively important for us.

"So yes, in terms of results it could have been a little bit different, I think we have been very unlucky and other aspects have influenced that."

Three big absentees from the team which started against Chelsea just after Christmas are Calum Chambers, Reiss Nelson and club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The former sustained a serious knee injury in that game and won't play again this season following surgery, while Aubameyang - who broke the deadlock that afternoon - misses the trip to west London through suspension.

Nelson has joined Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, meaning Arteta's options in attack and defence are very much the same from the weekend's draw against Sheffield United.

Ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge, the likes of Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah were all put through their paces at the club's London Colney training base.

Meanwhile, Zech Medley and Harry Clarke also trained with the first-team.
