Arsenal picture special: Ozil, Xhaka, Pepe, Ceballos & Lacazette train ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Saturday evening when they face Liverpool.

Both teams have started the new season with two wins from two, but this trip to Anfield is being billed as the north London outfit's first real big test of the campaign after beating Newcastle United and Burnley.

And Gunners head coach Unai Emery has joked about facing the Champions League holders.

"For us we don't want to play against Liverpool ever," Emery said jokingly. "We'd prefer not to play against them.

"That is really our challenge, a good test. For the supporters, for all of us, going there with six points is good. Really our target is to reduce the distance to Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea.

"When we play against them it is a big challenge to show how we can be. Next week is going to be a very good match.

"We are going to prepare first with the adaptation to them, their gameplan and individual players and after to impose our gameplan and capacity. We are going to prepare both defensively and offensively.

"I think first is to be positive in our capacity and then work hard. I know my past is to work hard, the present and future is going to be the same.

"After we can win, we can lose. But above all is be positive and keep moving ahead."

The corresponding fixture last season saw the Gunners slump to a 5-1 defeat despite taking the lead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

But Emery has been handed a double fitness boost ahead of this latest trip to Anfield.

Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka both took part in a training session after missing the 2-1 win over Burnley last weekend through illness and a back and leg injury respectively.

The Gunners were put through their paces at London Colney on Wednesday ahead of the late kick-off on Saturday.

Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz, Dani Ceballos trained as did several of the club's most promising youngsters including Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, James Olayinka, Bukayo Saka, Folarin Balogun, Emile Smith Rowe and Zak Swanson.

There was also another sighting of Rob Holding as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.
