Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke submits training ground plans after huge $325m purchase

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has reportedly submitted plans for a new training ground for his Los Angeles Rams National Football League team.

Kroenke's Rams are said to be looking to depart their current Cal Lutheran base at Thousand Oaks, which is almost 50 miles from their SoFi Stadium home. Since moving to Los Angeles from St. Louis, Missouri in 2016, the Rams have trained at Thousand Oaks while holding a summer training camp at University of California, Irvine which is 40 miles away from their Inglewood home.

According to Sports Illustrated, via the Los Angeles radio station KCLU, Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield has confirmed that paperwork has been filed by the Rams to the city's planning department regarding a setup in the Woodland Hills neighbourhood. The submission reportedly includes plans for practice fields, offices and locker rooms on land that is currently used as car parks with Blumenfield saying the Rams would use the facility as their year-round base.

The development comes on the back of a $325 million deal struck by Kroenke in Woodlands Hills to buy The Village Mall in January. If the plans are approved it would see the Rams train in Los Angeles with Blumenfield sending a letter to Woodland Hills residents recently.

"I am very excited that the process to welcome the Los Angeles Rams year-round practice facility/headquarters to the West Valley has officially begun," he said. He added: "I'm looking forward to welcoming such a storied NFL franchise to the West Valley."

Kroenke owns the Rams through his Kroenke Sports & Entertainment company, which also runs Arsenal. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season with Kroenke doing well with his sports teams recently.
