Welcome to The Arsenal Way daily round-up where we take a look at some of the best Arsenal stories that you might have missed.
Mikel Arteta has been provided with the rare opportunity to sign a reported long-term target for absolutely nothing after the player's parent club confirmed he will be leaving in the summer.
Bayern Munich join the race for another reported Arsenal target, meaning the Gunners will have to act fast if they want to secure any potential deal.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has made a bold Arsenal claim ahead of the New Year's Day Premier League clash at the Emirates.
Let's take a look at the above stories in more detail...
Arsenal given Zakaria opportunity
Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach have announced that reported Arsenal target Denis Zakaria will leave the club at the end of the season.
In a club statement released yesterday, it was confirmed that the Swiss international would depart after officially communicating his decision.
"Denis Zakaria has informed the club of his intention to leave in the summer after five years at Gladbach," part the statement read.
It has already been reported that Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and two English clubs are in contact with the player's representatives but adds that no agreement or decision is currently in place.
Our view: This development has provided Arsenal with a brilliant opportunity to add quality and depth to their midfield without splashing a major amount of cash.
The catch is - they understandably won't be the only club showing interest. If the likes of Bayern, Barcelona and Juventus are in contact, then the race for Zakaria's signature has already reached a challenging stage.
Bayern join Kulusevski race
Bayern Munich have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Juventus' Dujan Kulusevski, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report states that Bayern have followed the player since his Atalanta days, just like Arsenal.
Juventus are open to the idea of letting the 21-year-old Swede leave, but only if a reasonable fee is received which can then be reinvested into other areas of Massimiliano Allegri's squad.
The Serie A side are believed to be looking for around €35m-€40m (£29m-£33m).
Our view: At the moment, I would say we probably don't need another winger considering Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are all flying.
Not to mention, Nicolas Pepe is also here, but he could be the key to any potential deal for a wide player in the future. If he leaves, a move for someone like Kulusevski makes more sense, although I won't lose much sleep if Bayern get to him first.
Pep makes encouraging Gunners claim
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has paid Mikel Arteta's side a huge compliment as the two clubs prepare to face each other on Saturday.
Speaking to the press following City's win over Brentford last night, Pep said: "We have a game in London against Arsenal, maybe one of the top teams right now. The best Arsenal in the last four or five years."
The Premier League clash comes at a time where the Gunners find themselves sitting in fourth place with 35 points, whilst the current title holders lead the race in first place with 50 points.
Our view: It's nice to hear a top manager such as Pep say that of course, and I think we can all agree that we are in a good place at the moment.
But that doesn't change the fact that I'm still preparing for the worst on Saturday. City are on a different level.
