Arsenal 'offered Philippe Coutinho swap deal' as Barcelona bid to solve two problems

Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal in a swap deal for Matteo Guendouzi, according to reports.

The Catalan giants are desperate to find a buyer for Coutinho who is not in their future plans and has become a financial burden.

The Gunners meanwhile are looking to offload Guendouzi after the French teenager was frozen out of the squad by boss Mikel Arteta for his behavior in the defeat by Brighton.

Guendouzi narrowly avoided being hit with a ban after grabbing Seagulls striker Neal Maupay around the throat. He also allegedly mocked Brighton players for earning less money than his Arsenal team-mates.

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Barcelona and Arsenal may have come up with a plan that solves both their problems.

The Gunners are in need of some fire power and someone like Coutinho - who has proven to be a hit in the Premier League - may take them to the next level.

Meanwhile, Guendouzi, who has apparently lost his way in north London, may relish a new start in Spain playing alongside some very experienced heads.

Doing so may change his outlook on his position in the game, and result in him knuckling down in order to fulfil his exciting potential.

The deal is very much in the early stages as things stand, with Guendouzi yet to make up his mind on the direction he wants his future to take.

Coutinho, also, is yet to decide whether he wants to remain at Barcelona and fight for his place in the first team, or explore the option of another loan move elsewhere.
