Arsenal news: Talks over five-year deal for PSG star, Mikel Arteta's transfer stance on duo

Arsenal are preparing to take on Sheffield United on Saturday, with the Gunners in desperate need of three points.

Mikel Arteta's side drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace last weekend to fall further off the pace in the hunt for a top four spot, but the Gunners will be looking to record their third consecutive win at the Emirates in all competitions.

Elsewhere, the January transfer window is into its third week, with Arsenal still linked to various players.

Arsenal open talks over PSG defender

According to RMC Sport , Arsenal have opened discussions with Paris Saint-Germain for defender Layvin Kurzawa.

The defender is out of contract in the summer, and the Gunners have reportedly started talks over a five-year contract for the full-back.

The report also claims Arsenal could even make an offer to PSG this month for the 27-year-old.

Arteta confirms transfer wishlist

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he has a wishlist when it comes to the Gunners' business in the January transfer window.

However, he has denied that  the Gunners  are looking to sign Manchester City defender John Stones or AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Gunners' head coach was asked about transfers at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Sheffield United in the Premier League this weekend.

And he gave a clear response when questioned on a couple of reported transfer targets.

Mikel Arteta responds to John Stones transfer link

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken out about the Gunners' reported interest in signing Manchester City and England defender John Stones.

The Manchester City defender has been  linked with a move to north London , having found his opportunities limited so far this season at the Etihad Stadium.

Stones has made 14 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side this season, with his last coming on Sunday as Manchester City thrashed Aston Villa 6-1 in the Premier League at Villa Park.

But he has found himself on the sidelines for much of the campaign, amid injury problems and not being first choice for Guardiola. Read here
