Arsenal news: Premier League club keen to sign Bernd Leno as Edu targets £25m-rated defender

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Thursday, April 28.

Bernd Leno exit claim

According to 90Min, Newcastle United are keen to bolster their squad this summer and manager Eddie Howe wants to sign a goalkeeper, with Arsenal shot-stopper Bernd Leno a key target. The Gunners are likely to allow the German international to leave this summer, when he will be into the final 12 moths of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

England international Aaron Ramsdale joined the north Londoners last year whilst American keeper Matt Turner will also join the club at the end of the current campaign.

Molina interest

Italian outlets CalcioStyle and Messaggero Veneto have both reported that Arsenal are interested in Udinese wingback Nahuel Molina, with Spanish centre-back, Pablo Mari, who is currently on loan with the Serie A outfit, potentially making his move a permanent one.

Molina is a full Argentine international and has enjoyed a stellar 2021/22 campaign, netting six times in the Italian top-flight this term.

Coquelin's Ferguson verdict

Former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has surprisingly taken aim at Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson, who criticised him in his autobiography. Speaking about beating United in last season's Europa League final to French outlet RMC Sport, Coquelin said: "A feat, but also a little revenge.

"When I made my Arsenal debut, we lost 8-2 at Old Trafford. At the time, I took a dig from Sir Alex Ferguson in his biography.

"So, it was a nice little kickback to win the Europa League against them. Besides, I think he was in the stands.

"Lifting the trophy in front of him was nice. I looked for him, I didn’t find him. But he must have seen me."
