Arsenal news: Player ratings, Ljungberg's reaction to Pepe, double injury blow, Emery 'contact'

Arsenal have finally regained the winning feeling.

It took over 60 days and nine games across all competitions, but at the 10th time of asking the Gunners have finally won a game of football to ease some of the growing tension around the club.

Having fallen behind against West Ham United on Monday night, the north London outfit showed a ruthlessness inside 10 second half minutes to emerge 3-1 victors at the London Stadium.

The Gunners don't have long to wait for the next game as they're back in Europa League action on Thursday afternoon against Standard Liege in their final group game.

Having lost against Eintracht Frankfurt last time out - Unai Emery's final game in charge - Arsenal must avoid defeat in Belgium in order to join Manchester United and Wolves in the round of 32.

There will be plenty of build up to the clash and with that said, here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Player ratings

For 60 minutes it looked like the Gunners were going to go another game without a win.

Until Nicolas Pepe stepped up and reminded the world exactly why the Gunners spent £72m on him in the summer transfer window with a goal and an assist.

But how did the rest of the team fare at the London Stadium?

Ljungberg's reaction

Ljungberg faced the media following the West Ham game and two of the big talking points from his press conference was a first win as interim head coach as well as Pepe's performance.

"The players did amazing. We had a game plan, we wanted to move the ball a lot. The first half we were slow, we were lethargic. We didn't move, we didn't run.

"That in my opinion comes from players who have low confidence and don't do it at the speed you need to.

"It's been hard on the players but I thought 'give it a go in the second half.' And they did that. It was amazing to see. We saw West Ham getting a bit tired around the 60th minute and we sliced them open.

"We played some really good football in my opinion, that's how we want to play."

Double injury blow

Before a ball had been kicked at the London Stadium, Arsenal lost Hector Bellerin in the warm-up with a suspected hamstring problem.

Then after 28 minutes Kieran Tierney went off with a shoulder problem.

Those injury blows somewhat dampened the mood after the West Ham win and it's been revealed that the Scotland international went to hospital for further treatment.

£74m disaster

Arsenal are looking to end their three season hiatus from the Champions League.

But given their form over the past couple of months, it seems the only way they'll be playing in European club football's elite competition in 2020 is by winning the Europa League this season.

There's also a scenario that the Gunners don't seal a top-six in the Premier League this term.

That would mean no European football next season, and that would be somewhat of a disaster.

Everton 'contact Emery'

Unai Emery is being linked with a swift return to management and in the Premier League nonetheless.

Following Marco Silva's sacking by Everton, Sky Sports report that the former Gunners head has been approached by the Merseyside outfit about potentially taking over the role.

But it would appear that the Toffees are targeting a more experienced manager for the long-term.

However, not all Everton fans seem convinced Emery is the right man for the job.
