Arsenal news: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘not available for selection’ for Leeds clash

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still out of the Arsenal squad for Saturday’s trip to Leeds, with Mikel Arteta once again refusing to confirm if the forward has a future at the club.

Aubameyang was dropped from the squad and stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following a disciplinary breach.

The forward missed last weekend’s 3-0 win over Southampton and was then left out of the squad again for Wednesday’s 2-0 victory against West Ham.

Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy on Tuesday after arriving home late from a club-sanctioned trip to France to see his sick mother.

Mikel Arteta said earlier this week that Aubameyang had failing to demonstrate the “commitment and passion” to play for Arsenal.

Arteta had offered no suggestion of when or whether he will be allowed back in the fold, and his latest disciplinary breach has put his future at the club in doubt.

And the Arsenal manager has confirmed Aubameyang is “not available for selection” for the game against Leeds at Elland Road.

Asked whether Aubameyang has a future at the club, Arteta replied: “For this game he is not available for selection.”

Arteta was pressed on what the forward needs to do to get back into the side, but said only: “Well he is not available for the Leeds game and this is the situation right now.”
