Arsenal news: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believes Gunners can challenge for Premier League title

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believes Arsenal are ready to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Gunners have started with back-to-back wins with the Gabonese striker hitting both winners against Newcastle and Burnley.

And while qualifying for the Champions League remains the priority for Unai Emery’s side, Aubameyang is not limiting his side’s potential this season.

“I think as I said earlier we have made good signings, that will help us,” Aubameyang told Canal+.

“Last season, we were not far away from qualifying for the Champions’ League.

“Whatever happens, that is the most important thing, the most important aim for us. To be back in the Champions’ League.

“Aside from that, to fight for the title, we know very well that the big guns are ready but we are also ready and in any case we are going to give our all to match the big guns if possible.”

Unai Emery admitted last week the club are hoping to tie Aubameyang down to a new contract with just two years remaining on his deal.

“Of course, for us, they (Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette) are very important players and their contracts need to be in the same balance,” Emery claimed.

Next up for the Gunners is a trip to Anfield against Liverpool, followed by Tottenham at the Emirates in the north London derby, two games which will test their ambitious title credentials.
