Arsenal news: Pepe patience, Emery's big decisions ahead of Aston Villa and Lacazette reaction

Arsenal beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

It proved to be a special evening for the academy players.

Joe Willock opened the scoring with a deflected effort, but Bukayo Saka was the star of the show with a goal and two assists.

The Gunners don't have much time to reflect on the game against the Bundesliga outfit as they're back in action tomorrow.

Newly-promoted Aston Villa are the visitors to the Emirates as the Gunners look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League following back-to-back 2-2 draws either side of the international break.

With that said, here’s all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Pepe patience

Robert Pires has said that Arsenal fans must show patience with summer signing Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Gunners from Ligue 1 outfit Lille for £72million in the summer, but is yet to open his account for his new club.

Despite his underwhelming start, Pires is calling on the Gunners faithful to give the 24-year-old time.

"With Lille, he was fantastic. Last season he was one of the best players, he scored 21 or 22 goals," the French World Cup winner told Reuters. "He's a great player.

"Now he’s playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and he needs to adapt. It’s so difficult, very tough. So I want to say to the fans you need to be patient with Pepe."

Emery's big decisions

There are two big decisions facing Emery ahead of Sunday's game against Aston Villa.

One is the formation and the other is whether to stick with Bukayo Saka or hand a second start of the season to Mesut Ozil.

Considering Ozil was rested against Frankfurt it does seem likely that he will get the nod and that would mean no place for Saka despite his excellent showing in the Europa League.

Above is football.london's expected line-up, but click here to have your say.

Lacazette reaction

Alexandre Lacazette sent a message to Saka following his impressive Europa League performance against Eintracht Frankfurt.

After the game, the teenager took to Instagram to express his delight.

"Dream come true to score for Arsenal and to get 2 assists tops off a special night," he wrote.

The post gained a response from many teammates, including from injured striker Lacazette who replied with a one word message which simply read "congrats."

Mustafi's future

Shkodran Mustafi insists he is prepared to stay put at Arsenal after the club failed to secure a buyer for him in the summer transfer window.

As football.london reported during the summer transfer window, the German and his representatives were reluctant to push for a move away from Arsenal, where he has a contract until 2021, and were only prepared to depart for the right club.

Speaking after making his first appearance of the season against Frankfurt, Mustafi made clear that his focus remains on Arsenal and that he is relaxed over what might come next.

"My father, who is my agent, spoke to the club," he told Sport BILD. "I am an Arsenal player and [I have] still got two years' contract.

"I've never been someone who begins a war when something doesn't work out.  I always said: 'If it is possible, I am open to take the next step. If not, I keep playing my football.'
