Arsenal news: Nacho Monreal exit, David Luiz admission, Jurgen Klopp boost, Mesut Ozil stance

Arsenal lost their first game of the new season on Saturday.

After two straight wins to open the Premier League campaign, the Gunners were beaten by their bogey team Liverpool at Anfield.

It was 3-1 on the day, with Mo Salah grabbing two of the goals.

And there was plenty to talk about in the aftermath of the contest.

Here we take a look at the big stories from around Arsenal in the last 24 hours.

Nacho Monreal exit

Spanish defender Nacho Monreal is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

And there have been plenty of rumours about his future this summer.

He could still leave the Emirates because the transfer window remains open in the other four top European leagues.

And head coach Unai Emery has given an update on the full-back's future.

Read all about that here.

David Luiz admission

David Luiz had a good debut against Burnley last week.

But he did not follow it up with an accomplished performance against Liverpool.

He was at fault for two of Liverpool's goals in the 3-1 defeat, but he made an admission after the game that could have stopped the third goal being scored.

Read what he had to say here.

Mesut Ozil stance

Unai Emery has plenty of selection headaches on his hands.

The head coach has some big decisions to make when it comes to naming his first XI for future games.

And one of those decisions revolves around Mesut Ozil.

Once again, the German is making headlines, having missed out on the squad for the defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

Here's what that means for the midfielder moving forward.

Jurgen Klopp compliment

They may have brushed aside Arsenal with relative ease, but Jurgen Klopp does not think Arsenal will have any trouble for the rest of the season.

The Liverpool boss thinks Emery has recruited well over the summer, having brought in the likes of Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney.

And Klopp paid the Gunners a massive compliment in the build-up to the game at Anfield, even if Arsenal were not quite at the races on the pitch during the 90 minutes.

Here's what he had to say about the Gunners.

Player ratings

There was some positive for Unai Emery to take away from Anfield.

But all in all it was a difficult afternoon for the Gunners.

Here's how James Benge rated the players in defeat.
