Arsenal news: Marcelino 'in London', massive injury scare and predicted line-up vs West Ham

It's Monday, which means it's finally matchday for Arsenal.

The Gunners have had to wait four days to respond to that disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion - a result which means it's nine games without a win across all competitions.

They face West Ham United away from home and it's very much a must-win game for Freddie Ljungberg's side.

Ljungberg knows confidence is key to improving Arsenal’s fortunes

In terms of results from across the Premier League this weekend, it hasn't gone in the north London outfit's favour as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both closed the gap on Chelsea in the race for a top four finish.

But cam the Gunners finally get a win? Football.london will have all the build up to the game at the London Stadium as Ljungberg goes in search of his first win as interim head coach.

With that said, here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Holding injury scare

Arsenal have confirmed that Rob Holding is a doubt for tonight's game.

The defender hasn't been seen in a matchday squad since being substituted in the 2-0 defeat at Leicester City before last month's international break.

And the reason for his absence is injury releated.

"Left knee," reads a statement on the club's official website. "Bruising to knee, being assessed ahead of Monday’s match."

Full story.

Predicted team vs West Ham United

Ljungberg will certainly face a few headaches attempting to solve Arsenal's issues at the back ahead of the clash against the Hammers.

Shkodran Mustafi was dropped for the Brighton game but Sokratis hardly covered himself in glory, meanwhile David Luiz, is yet to prove himself to be a consistent option at the back.

Calum Chambers is an option to play at the heart of defence, but what will the Swede do?

Marcelino to Arsenal?

Former Valencia boss Marcelino could be closing in on a new job, if reports are to be believed.

In a rather interesting turn of events, Superdeporte are claiming that Marcelino landed in London on Sunday morning.

They also speculate that he could be close to taking up a new project and this follows on from Goal stating that the Gunners have made contact with the Spaniard who led Valencia to the Europa League semi-final last season.

Safe to say, these Arsenal fans aren't happy with this latest development.

Vieira hint

Or could Patrick Vieira be the next Arsenal manager?

Well, he hasn't exactly ruled out the prospect...

Speaking to Canal+ after Nice's 4-1 win over Metz, Vieira said: "You know, a club that you spend nine years in, cannot leave you unmoved.

"But sincerely and honestly, I am concentrated on and in this project with OGC Nice. I have always said it and I repeat it again for you now, I feel very good here.

"It is a truly very exciting project and I want to succeed in this project."
