Arsenal news: Lucas Torreira transfer update, Granit Xhaka's message and the winners and losers

The international break probably came at a good time for Arsenal and Unai Emery as they look to turn their season around.

After a number of disappointing results and performances at the beginning of the season, the Arsenal manager is likely to use the week away from Premier League football to re-evaluate and come up with a plan that will help move the Gunners back towards the Champions League places.

Arsenal are currently in sixth place in the table, eight points away from where they want to be. A 2-0 loss to top four rivals Leicester City in their last outing made the task that little bit more difficult.

While Emery ponders what to do next, a number of players are off around the world representing their national teams, while plans for January will also now be well under way.

While all the players may not be there this week, there is still a lot going on at the Emirates Stadium.

Here's the latest news from north London over the last 24 hours.

Lucas Torreria's future

The Arsenal midfielder's future has been the subject of speculation for some time, and as the January transfer window draws nearer, the talk is only getting louder.

The Uruguayan has started the last two league games under Unai Emery, but has mainly found himself being used from the bench so far this season.

Reports in the week suggested that Torreria was looking for a January move, with AC Milan touted as a possible destination, and the player's agent has given an update on his client's future.

"In football anything can happen," he said.

Xhaka's message

The former Arsenal captain hasn't really been out of the headlines since tensions with fans during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace reached boiling point.

The midfielder took to the pitch for the first time since the incident on Friday night, playing the full 90 minutes of Switzerland's 1-0 victory over Georgia.

Following the game, Xhaka took to social media to send a message, which is probably aimed at Arsenal fans.

Winners and losers

It's not been the best start of the season for Emery and his men, with tensions around the Emirates at a high.

Arsenal are eight points off a Champions League place, which would have been the Spaniard's minimum aim at during the summer, but it will be a distance dream if results don't improve quickly.

However, there has been some positives this season, with some young players stepping up to the plate and impressing.

So, who have been the winners and losers of Arsenal's season so far?
