Arsenal news: Lacazette injury worry, Aubameyang 'announces transfer', Ceballos gaffe

There are now less than two weeks before the new Premier League season gets under way.

And while Arsenal have yet to make a defensive signing that can play this season, the Gunners may be set to secure a third attacking signing of the summer.

There is still plenty of work to be done behind the scenes by Unai Emery, Raul Sanllehi, Edu et al before the transfer window shuts and the season gets started.

Here we take a look at the biggest stories doing the rounds in the last 24 hours.

Lacazette injury

Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Lyon in the Emirates Cup on their return to England on Sunday.

After taking the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners conceded twice in the second half to lose to their French opponents.

But it was not the defeat which would have worried the fans or Unai Emery, after all it is only pre-season, but an injury to frontman Alexandre Lacazette would have done.

The French forward went down in the first half, having not received a challenge, and was pictured wearing a protective boot on the bench during the season half.

Emery provided an update on his injury after the match.

Here's what he said.

Aubameyang hint

It looks as if Nicolas Pepe is going to become Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer at some point this week.

The Gunners have emerged as shock frontrunners to secure a £72million deal for the Ivorian winger this summer, having spent much of the transfer window hamstrung by a reported £45million budget.

Pepe has had interest from a number of Europe's top clubs, including Liverpool, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain.

But Arsenal are in the boxseat, and the Gunners fans think Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted at the transfer being all-but done.

Here's what get them so excited.

Saliba photo

Aubameyang was not the only one getting the Arsenal fans excited this weekend.

William Saliba became Arsenal's third summer signing on Thursday, although he went straight back out on loan to Saint Etienne for the season.

But was the teenage defender always destined to turn up at the Emirates in his career?

His agent Djibril Niang posted a photo on Instagram over the weekend of Saliba when he was younger - wearing an Arsenal shirt.

You can see that here.

Dani Ceballos debut

Arsenal's new loan signing Dani Ceballos made his debut in the red shirt on Sunday.

He came off the bench during the defeat to Lyon and showed some neat touches, much to the delight of the Arsenal fans.

The Arsenal fans, in fact, think the Real Madrid star might be too good for the Emirates.

Here's what they have been saying on Twitter.

While it all may have been smooth on the pitch for Ceballos, it was not quite the same off the pitch.

Arsenal made a rather large gaffe behind the scenes.
