Jack Wilshere has opened up about how a heart-wrenching conversation with his 10-year-old son led to him leaving Arsenal.
The 30-year-old signed for Danish side Aarhus this week after spending much of the season training with Mikel Arteta's side following his release from Championship side Bournemouth last summer.
Wilshere's arrangement with Arsenal was only ever meant to help the former England star to regain full fitness, with Arteta repeatedly insisting the player was not part of his long-term thinking but led to the midfielder feeling "unloved" at the club.
It comes as Arsenal's transfer business faces scrutiny after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick for new side Barcelona following his free transfer from the Gunners on transfer deadline day.

Visit Rwanda deal examined
Arsenal's £10million-per-year sponsorship agreement with Visit Rwanda has been examined amid sportswashing accusations.
The term ‘sportswashing’ is defined as ‘where sport is used a tool to legitimise or improve the reputation of an individual, group, corporation or nation-state’.
It is often associated with wealthy nations via sports sponsorship, influence, or hosting events.
And the actions of authoritarian president Paul Kagame and the arrest of Paul Rusesabagina have led to allegations of human rights abuses.
Rusesabagina's daughter Carine Kanimba has now accused the country's regime of using the sponsorship to "hide human rights abuses and to make it look like a happy country, when it is not".
Transfer business faces scrutiny
Arsenal's transfer business has been slammed after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit a hat-trick for Barcelona in their LaLiga clash with Valencia on Sunday.
The former Gunners captain joined Barcelona on a free on transfer deadline after being ostracised by Arteta for a disciplinary breach in December.
But fans, including Piers Morgan, have now hit out at the decision to let the striker leave, while Barca midfielder Sergio Busquet described Arsenal's decision to let Aubameyang move for free has been a "gift".

Jack Wilshere says he felt "unloved" at Arsenal, and has recalled the heartbreak of telling his 10-year-old son that he couldn't find a new club.
