Arsenal news: Jack Grealish breaks silence on Bukayo Saka rivalry amid Tomiyasu injury update

Here is your morning Arsenal digest on Thursday, March 23.

Grealish admission

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has spoken about his side's rivalry with Arsenal and his own personal battle with Bukayo Saka

Speaking about the 21-year-old to The Times, Grealish said: "I'm playing for City on the wing, he's playing for Arsenal on the wing and we're both going for the Premier League. But that is another thing that the manager here at England has done so well.

"We feel like a group of team-mates that are together. Back at your club, you're rivals but everyone just clicks here.

"He's a great lad, Bukayo. In the game the other week, I went past someone and then me and him went shoulder to shoulder.

"I thought, 'He [the referee] has got to give it as a foul', because I can’t have Bukayo saying that he bodied me. I pulled him up on that this morning and he said it was never a foul!"

Forward interest

Arsenal are interested in signing Montpellier starlet Elye Wahi, according to French outlet Juenes Footeux.

Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in Wahi, who has netted 12 goals in 24 league outings this term, numbers that read even more impressive when you consider that he is still just 20 years old.

Tomiyasu update

Medical expert Dr Rajpal Brar, DPT has given an update on his YouTube channel regarding Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu's recent injury, confirming that his injury is similar to the one striker Gabriel Jesus sustained during Brazil's World Cup campaign back in November 2022.

Speaking on Tomiyasu, Brar said: "Based on the mechanism of injury with his right knee dropping inwards (aka valgus stress), this is most likely an injury to the medial collateral ligament (MCL).

"Further, the club reported today that Tomi underwent surgery which means he likely had a grade three tear/rupture - the same injury that Gabriel Jesus had." The former Manchester City forward took a little under four months before returning to action as a substitute against Fulham the weekend before last.

If Tomiyasu's rehabilitation were to have a similar timeline, he would be back in full training sometime in late June or early July.
