Arsenal news: Ex-Liverpool man's Pepe admission, Luiz's Spurs warning, Elneny transfer latest

Arsenal's 100 per cent record in the Premier League this season is over, following the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

Unai Emery's men were well beaten on Merseyside as Mo Salah netted twice for Jurgen Klopp's side, adding to Joel Matip's opener in the first half.

Arsenal substitute Lucas Torreira scored a late consolation, but it was not enough to help the Gunners get back into the game, with Liverpool claiming all three points to move on to nine from three matches.

That means Liverpool are now the only side with a 100 per cent record in the top flight this season, while Arsenal now start the build up to the first north London derby of the campaign as Tottenham visit the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

And ahead of that, we take a look at the latest Arsenal news.

Former Liverpool midfielder's Nicolas Pepe admission

He may have been on the losing side against Liverpool, but Arsenal's club record signing Nicolas Pepe put in an impressive showing at Anfield.

And it wasn't just Gunners fans who were impressed by the Ivory Coast international, with former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp talking up the £72million man after his first start for the north London side.

Indeed, Redknapp said that he believes he is a promising addition for the Londoners.

"In Pepe they’ve probably had the best player on the pitch. I’ve seen Arsenal come here (to Anfield) in the last few years and they haven’t done anything at all," he told Sky Sports.

“But they have got a special talent in Pepe - I’ve been so impressed with him. He’s always looking to run on the shoulder, he’s causing mayhem.

“When they started to be a bit more direct, that’s when they started to cause problems. You can see the ‘keeper doesn’t know what to do, Virgil van Dijk has problems all game. I don’t think it’s necessarily because he’s not playing well, I just think it’s more because of Pepe.”

David Luiz's message for the fans

It was not an afternoon to remember for David Luiz as Arsenal were beaten at Anfield.

The Brazilian came in for plenty of criticism after he was at fault for two of Liverpool's three goals on Merseyside, with Luiz pulling Salah back to concede a penalty, before being beaten by the Egyptian as he netted his second - and the Reds' third - goal of the game.

But Luiz had a message for the fans after the game, with the former Chelsea defender admitting after the game that it had been a tough game for him and his team-mates.

However, he has vowed to try and put that behind him as Arsenal look to try and bounce back against their north London rivals.

"The team fought until the end and the team created a lot of chances to score here today," he said on social media. "It could be a different game but now we are still with the six points, in three games, we're going to play a tough game against Tottenham.

"I think you have to look forward and try to win."

Mohamed Elneny transfer latest

The future of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny continues to be the subject of speculation, with the European transfer window still open for business.

The Egyptian international has found his opportunities limited under Unai Emery, and has not yet featured for the Lilywhites so far this season.

But he may not make another appearance for the Gunners anytime soon, with reports that he could soon be on his way to France.

That's because French club Bordeaux are reportedly considering a move for the Arsenal midfielder before the European transfer window closes for business next week.

According to Foot Mercato, the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup winners are keen on signing the midfielder on a season-long loan deal.

Elneny played just eight times in the Premier League last season, and with Dani Ceballos arriving this summer, he now finds himself further down the pecking order.
