Arsenal news: Edu latest, 6 players Emery must target this summer, youngsters make Valencia trip

Tonight is massive for Arsenal and Unai Emery.

Three straight defeats and a draw has all but end hopes of a top four finish in the Premier League, but they're not down and out just yet and still have a chance of securing a return to the Champions League following a two-year absence.

The best chance at being back at Europe's top table is by winning the Europa League.

The Gunners face Valencia at the Mestalla in the semi-final second leg this evening, looking to make the most of 3-1 lead from the first leg by reaching a first European final in 13 years.

Qualification for the Champions League could boost Emery's transfer budget and many might be looking to figure out how issues can be fixed in the summer window.

We've gathered all the latest news from around the Emirates, take a look below...

Emery's transfer shortlist

A lack of Champions League football would not only be a blow for the fans, but it could also have a huge financial impact on the landscape of the club's transfer targets this summer as the Gunners look to regroup and build a side capable of a top-four finish next season.

To do so, Unai Emery will be desperate to strengthen his side for the new campaign with a centre-back, left-back and central midfielder all top of the priority list.

But with their budget now very much dependent on Europa League success, what players could they look to bring in, with and without Champions League football?

Football.london takes a look at six players Arsenal and Emery can target this summer.

Edu to Arsenal

football.london reported last month that Edu was viewed as a leading contender for the sporting director role at the Emirates Stadium and fresh reports in Brazil have indicated a growing expectation that the 40-year-old will eventually leave his role with the Brazil national team and return to north London.

However, the Brazilian Football Confederation have moved to clarify Edu's position.

A statement reads:"Regarding the news involving the Coordinator of the Brazilian National Team, Edu Gaspar, CBF clarifies: "The Coordinator of Selections, Edu Gaspar, has a contract with CBF until the end of the Qatar World Cup 2022.

"Edu Gaspar informed CBF that he received a survey of an English club, who explained that at the moment he is exclusively focused on the Copa América Brazil 2019.

"Therefore, CBF denies any speculation around names for the position of Coordinator. The entity has clarity of qualities needed for this position, which unite administrative capacity and great experience in the field."

Youngsters make Spain trip

Arsenal have arrived in Spain.

Tonights' Europa League game against Valencia will be latest in a hectic fixture schedule for the Gunners in the past month and while their Premier League form has suffered, they've been impressive in Europe.

Unai Emery, who won the Europa League three times in a row while in charge of Sevilla, has always maintained he will take this season’s competition seriously and he has certainly named a strong squad for the Valencia game.

The club's cameras were present at Luton Airport yesterday morning to capture the squad boarding the plane for the trip to Spain ahead of tomorrow evening's huge game at the Mestalla.

From the images we can see that Mesut Ozil has travelled from London, as have the likes of Sokratis, Nacho Monreal, Lucas Torreira, Petr Cech, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Bernd Leno and club captain Laurent Koscielny.

Furthermore, youngsters Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock have also been included in the squad.
