Arsenal news: Dayot Upamecano bid, Eddie Nketiah loan move, when Pepe will make his debut

The last few days of the transfer window will be dominated by which defensive players Arsenal could sign.

The Gunners have done some excellent business in an attacking sense so far this summer, but have yet to improve their defence, given William Saliba joined and went straight back to St Etienne on loan.

A number of players have been linked, but not yet signed, meanwhile the Arsenal faithful are keen to know when their new club record signing will be ready for action too.

Here are the biggest Arsenal stories from the past 24 hours.

Dayot Upamecano transfer

Arsenal are in need of defensive reinforcements.

And are they on course to complete a deal for a highly-rated young centre-back?

William Saliba has already signed, although he has gone straight back to St Etienne on loan.

But Dayot Upamecano could join the club permanently.

Upamecano is a 20-year-old centre-back who was born in France but holds dual citizenship with Guinea-Bissau.

He is right-footed and can also play in central midfield. He plies his trade in the German Bundesliga with Red Bull Leipzig, where he has played for two seasons, since moving from the other Red Bull team in Salzburg for £9million.

And according to German publication Bild, Arsenal have placed a bid for him.

Here's what we know.

Eddie Nketiah's future

Eddie Nketiah could be on his way out of Arsenal.

The forward enjoyed an impressive pre-season with Unai Emery’s first-team, scoring in wins over Bayern Munich and Fiorentina in the USA, and Arsenal are keen to ensure that the 20-year-old gains regular game time next season.

That may not happen in Emery’s squad, where Nicolas Pepe has joined Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in a fearsome frontline that could limit Nketiah’s opportunities.

A number of Championship clubs are sniffing around Nketiah.

Here's what we know about his future.

Daniele Rugani latest

Arsenal are working on a number of targets in the final few days of the transfer window.

Among them is thought to be Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Rugani was previously a target for Chelsea in the last summer transfer window, but remained in Italy.

Now he has emerged as a potential defensive addition for Unai Emery.

Here's what we know about Arsenal's interest.

Pepe debut

Arsenal fans are waiting to see club-record signing Nicolas Pepe in action.

The winger joined for £72million last week, but was not ready to take part in the Gunners' pre-season friendly against Barcelona on Sunday.

So when will he make his debut?

Unai Emery has had his say on the new signing.
