Arsenal news: Arteta's January transfer updates on midfielder and striker, Ozil's importance

It's a brand new year. And with it, brings an Arsenal win!

The Gunners faced Manchester United last night at the Emirates Stadium, with Mikel Arteta picking up his first win since being appointed as head coach.

He drew his first game against Bournemouth, before losing to Chelsea. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side came up against a big display from Arteta's side, falling to a 2-0 loss.

Goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis were the difference on the night for a vastly improved Arsenal side.

Nketiah leaves Leeds

Leeds United have confirmed that Eddie Nketiah will head back to Arsenal today.

The striker has not featured as much as was hoped, and so the Gunners have recalled him from Elland Road.

Injury latest

Calum Chambers has been to see a specialist for further tests on the knee injury that threatens to derail his season, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has confirmed.

As football.london revealed this morning, Chambers has suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament but the club are investigating to confirm whether he has suffered any further injury.
