Arsenal news: Allegri 'contact', Lacazette's angry exchange with Emery and big Arteta update

It's Tuesday and Arsenal are in European action this week.

The Gunners welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday where victory will secure their passage into the knockout stages of the Europa League as well as top spot.

It was 3-0 to the visitors in the reverse meeting back in September and under pressure head coach Unai Emery could really do with a repeat scoreline as well as performance.

Calls for the Spanish tactician to not even be in the dugout have gotten louder following the 2-2 draw with Southampton at the weekend.

But all signs are pointing towards Emery being in charge for the visit of the Bundesliga outfit, but the question is just how long will he still be the Gunners head coach.

With that said, here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Allegri 'contact'

Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Southampton at the weekend has increased the pressure on Emery.

Despite Alexandre Lacazette's late equaliser, the north London outfit are seventh in the Premier League table and sit eight points adrift of the top four.

The question is how long will Emery get to turn things around?

Judging by recent reports, not too long.

It's been claimed that the Gunners have made contact with the representatives of Max Allegri with regards to taking over from Emery.

Lacazette and Emery exchange

football.london revealed earlier this month that several younger members of Arsenal's first-team squad are confused by Emery's management, they do not appear to be alone.

Lacazette scored twice against Southampton including the stoppage time equaliser, but the French striker was seen engaging in what looked like a heated row with his manager in the second half.

The exchange happened during a delay when Southampton had a player down injured and added to the several on-pitch incidents in recent weeks where players have visibly questioned or disobeyed their head coach in forthright terms.

Kieran Tierney was seen appearing to tell Emery to 'calm down' when the Arsenal boss shouted instructions from the technical area during the 1-1 draw with Wolves at the beginning of the month.

Arteta update

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has discussed a potential move to Arsenal for his assistant Mikel Arteta.

The former Gunners midfielder is joint-favourite with the bookies to become the next Gunners head coach alongside Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, as Unai Emery's delicate position hangs by a thread.

Arteta has been Guardiola's assistant since he retired as a player in 2016, and it would appear that the Spaniard won't stand in his compatriot's way should Arsenal come calling.

"For sure he will be a manager," Guardiola told reporters. "I would like him to stay with us as long as possible. But personal life is personal life, his professional desire is professional.

"He was a holding midfielder, he had incredible vision on the pitch. He’s an incredible human being, he has a great work ethic. I said after a few months of being together that he would be a manager one day."

Umtiti transfer hint

With defensive struggles being one of the problems for the Gunners, links to the Barcelona star have resurfaced ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Umtiti has named former club Lyon as a possible destination, in what could be a transfer blow to Arsenal.

"I'd like to be a coach. I take notes from those I've worked under, their training sessions and what they do," the defender said (via the Mirror).

"Returning to Lyon is a possibility, as a player or as a coach."
