Arsenal news: Alexandre Lacazette not impressed with lacklustre Premier League atmosphere

Alexandre Lacazette has said Premier League crowds have nothing on Ligue 1.

The France international, 27, is in his second season playing for Arsenal, but believes the atmosphere when he played in his home country with Lyon was better than in England.

Lacazette began his career playing for Lyon, scoring 129 goals in almost 300 appearances before departing for Arsenal in 2017, for £46.5m.

Speaking to local newspaper Le Progres, Lacazette said: “I miss the Ligue 1 atmosphere. In England, the fans are more spectators than supporters.”

Lacazette has been in fine form for Arsenal in recent weeks, after forcing his way into new manager Unai Emery’s starting line-up.

He has scored 5 goals in 10 appearances for the club, as well as forming a deadly striker partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been moved out onto the left-wing to accommodate him.

The duo have 11 goals between them and have also formed a strong bond off the pitch.

“It is good, he is like my brother,” Lacazette added. “We talk every day and we love working together.”
