Arsenal new signing 'rejected' Chelsea transfer amid Bernd Leno exit complication

Arsenal's summer transfer window has got off to a rapid start.

Transfer chief Edu has been a busy man, acquiring four first-team players, spending more than £80 million in the process. The former Invincible has added Gabriel Jesus, Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira to Mikel Arteta's squad.

Still, the Gunners are expected to continue looking for additional signings, with plenty of top-class players heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Here, football.london summarises three of the biggest Arsenal transfer rumours from the last 24 hours.

Leno agreement

According to Arsenal transfer guru James Benge, goalkeeper Bernd Leno is becoming frustrated at the lack of movement on his proposed move to newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham. The German international played second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates Stadium last season and the Gunners have already signed Leno's replacement in the form of American shot-stopper Matt Turner.

Now, Benge has taken to social media to say: "Fulham and Bernd Leno have full agreement over personal terms and contract. However, no sign of a breakthrough in talks between clubs. Leno increasingly frustrated over Arsenal and Fulham’s inability to reach deal."

Jesus claim

Gabriel Jesus' agent Marcelo Pettinati has revealed that the striker rejected Chelsea to join Arsenal this summer. football.london revealed earlier this year that technical director Edu was in talks with Jesus' representatives over a potential transfer before the Brazilian international was announced as the north London club's fourth signing of the summer last Monday.

And the player's agent has now claimed that the Gunners weren't the only London side interested in the former Manchester City star. Speaking to Freddie Paxton, Pettinati said: “Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move. They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we’d already chosen our new project.”

Saliba demand

Arsenal defender William Saliba will ask to leave if he isn't guaranteed place in Mikel Arteta's starting XI, according to The Independent. Atletico Madrid and Marseille are said to be interested in signing the French starlet this summer, with the player and willing to ask to leave the Emirates Stadium if Arteta fails to guarantee him a starting spot ahead of next season.

It is claimed that Saliba is extremely determined to play regularly ahead of the 2022 World Cup as he looks to make Les Blues' squad for the Qatar tournament, meaning a move away from the Gunners may potentially be considered if he finds himself on the bench during the first few weeks of the 2022/23 campaign.
