Arsenal new boy David Luiz relieved not to have to face Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette

David Luiz says he is delighted that he no longer has to defend against Arsenal front pair Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, after completing his deadline day switch from Chelsea.

The Brazilian swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates in a surprise £8million move on Thursday, and will be reunited with manager Unai Emery, who he worked under at PSG.

His last competitive game for the Blues came against Arsenal, in last season’s Europa League final, which Chelsea comfortably won 4-1.

However, upon signing a two-year-deal, Luiz admitted he had found playing against Lacazette, who scored against Chelsea in the league meeting at the Emirates last season, and Golden Boot winner Aubameyang a real handful.

“It has to be the strikers!” Luiz told the club website, when asked which of his new teammates had given him the toughest test down the years.

“It was always these openings I had to try to stop.

“I’m happy now that I can have Lacazette and Aubameyang on my side, so it’s much easier now!”
