Arsenal must react fast to Liverpool's Divock Origi decision to gift Mikel Arteta ideal transfer

Arsenal will need to strengthen in the striker position ahead of next season due to a huge shortage that is approaching the club. And to end the issues involving the forward position, Edu should look to steal AC Milan’s bargain transfer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, The Rossoneri have made a proposal to sign Divock Origi on a free transfer. Liverpool have announced that Belgian striker is not extending his contract with the Reds, after his current deal expired.

Origi shouldn’t be considered as Arsenal’s main striker signing for the summer. But he would certainly be an excellent backup option ahead of next season, and signing him on a free transfer would mean that the Gunners do not need to overspend to secure his services.

Arsenal will be in desperate need of two new strikers in the summer transfer window, with Alexandre Lacazette's confirmed departure and Folarin Balogun's likely exit on a loan basis. This would leave Eddie Nketiah as the only striker at Arsenal.

Crystal Palace were hopeful of signing Nketiah on a free transfer in the summer. Patrick Vieira failed to bring him at the start of this season, with the two clubs unable to agree on a fee, and it seems that it will happen again with Nketiah tipped to sign a new deal.

Origi has already shown his calibre and Premier League experience required to be a quality backup striker option. If Arsenal sign two strikers with the Belgian being one of these in the summer then the Gunners would have certainly strengthened their firepower.

The Liverpool striker will go down in the Merseyside’s club history due to his clutch ability to score important goals when coming off the bench. Jurgen Klopp has previously labelled him as a Liverpool legend.

This was proven with his goal in the Champions League final in 2019 and his dramatic late winner against Everton in the 2018/2019 season. He can also be impactful from a starting role and that was shown against Barcelona in the Champions League the same season where they won the competition, as it was his goal that knocked out the Catalan side in the semi-finals.

Signing Origi on a free transfer would also allow Edu to splash money on an expensive striker. The club have been heavily linked to players such as Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen, however, these targets would cost more than £70m, meaning if a second striker was to be signed, they would have to be for a cheap price.

AC Milan are set to sign one of Arsenal’s targets Renato Sanches according to French outlet L’Equipe. Arsenal must prevent Milan from signing an ideal striker for the Gunners, and come in with their own proposal for Origi.
