Arsenal will have to make quick decisions with their final transfer plans.
Manager Mikel Arteta has already added Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian and Runar Alex Runarsson to his ranks this summer, while turning Pablo Mari's loan into a permanent move and welcoming Dani Ceballos back for another season-long loan from Real Madrid.
But there remains one position that the Gunners boss would like to strengthen further - midfield.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of midfielders, with Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar chief among them.
Lyon want a deal sorted by Friday for Aouar, if he is to leave, while Atletico are keen to keep hold of Partey and are not willing to budge on the £43million release clause the Ghanaian has.
The two are different players, with Partey a more defensive minded midfield man and Aouar preferring to get the team on the front foot.
If Arsenal are to get one of them over the line, they need to act quickly, with transfer deadline day fast approaching.
The extended summer transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, October 5, meaning the Gunners have just six days to secure a deal for one of them.
They also only have six days to secure a deal for another player that has been linked with a shock move to the Emirates - Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
A domestic transfer window has been agreed this season, which lasts from October 6 until October 16, giving Premier League clubs the opportunity to add and sell players from and to other clubs in England.
However, that does not apply to deals between Premier League sides. The rules state that Premier League clubs can do business with EFL clubs in this extra 11-day period, but there can be no Premier League to Premier League transactions.
So, if deals for Partey and Aouar to not come to fruition by 11pm on Monday, Arsenal will not be able to move for Jorginho either.
