Luiz reveals Arteta’s influence
Arsenal defender David Luiz has revealed how Mikel Arteta has galvanised the club since his appointment at the Emirates Stadium.
Luiz believes the Gunners lost their winning ways under ex-boss Unai Emery but has praised Arteta for bringing the positivity back at Arsenal.
“Mikel has brought the club a philosophy where everybody has to think for the best of the club,” Luiz said to Arsenal legend Ian Wright in a video for Adidas.
“And the best of the club is to make the club shine again. Everybody, not just the players, everybody has to breathe this oxygen, ‘this club is to win’.
“It doesn’t matter where, when, or by who, that was lost. What matters is to bring it back.”
Gunners target drops major transfer hint
Lille striker Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Arsenal at the end of the season and has dropped his biggest hint yet over a potential switch to the Premier League.
The 21-year-old Nigeria international is reportedly wanted by the Gunners and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, links emerging in recent months.
“Of course, one day I’d like to play for a big club in England,” Osimhen said to the Independent .
“I’ve spoken to Odion (Ighalo) about it. He gave me very good advice, he’s a legend and a big brother.
“My goal is to play at one of the biggest clubs in the world but right now I’m very happy in Lille.
“My priority is to play a lot of games. Signing for a big club and being on the bench is not exciting for me.”
Osimhen has scored 18 goals in all competitions for the French side this season.
Arsenal among teams to want season finished by June 30
Arsenal, among several other Premier League teams, are trying to finish the 2019/20 season by June 30 with the campaign suspended for an indefinite period.
Football across the UK is on pause due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the future of the campaign is still undecided.
The Premier League and Football Association are determined to finish the season in the most natural way possible, but will have to extend the games into the summer months.
However, the Mirror reports that at least nine clubs, including the Gunners, are considering presenting a case to the Premier League on Friday with their desire to finish the season by the end of June.
These clubs want the season to run its natural course but are worried about potential dilemmas such as contracts expiring on June 30, as well as commercial deals that come to an end on the same day.
