Arsenal morning headlines as transfer plans laid out and £500,000 Aubameyang claim made

Here are the Arsenal morning headlines for Monday, August 3.

Aubameyang warrants £500,000 a week, says former Gunner

Arsenal won their 14th FA Cup on Saturday with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring both goals in their 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

And former Gunner Perry Groves believes he is so important to the club that they should pay him up to half a million pounds a week and build the team around the 31-year-old.

Groves told talkSPORT: “If they said, ‘Aubameyang’s on £400,000 a week, £500,000 a week,’ it wouldn’t bother me at all because some players warrant it.

“Some players warrant it and he does because he delivers.”

Mikel Arteta on using the FA Cup as a stepping stone to other titles

Arteta has already laid out his transfer plans

Victory in the FA Cup final has secured European football for Arsenal next season, which will give their finances a very welcome boost.

With less than four weeks until the Community Shield against Liverpool, there isn’t long for the club to bring in new players before the 2020/21 campaign gets underway.

However, Arsenal know who Mikel Arteta would like to bring in, as he has explained to Raul Sanllehi.

"They know everything, I present everything to them: my vision, what my plans are, why I want to do it," he said. "Then all together we will try our best to be in the best possible position when we start the new season.”

Pepe’s vow came true

Nicolas Pepe must have psychic powers, at least if a video he posted ahead of the FA Cup final is any indication.

In the video, which has been translated, Pepe said: "Tomorrow we qualify for Europa League. I don't want to hear about Chelsea, Olivier Giroud... tomorrow it's Aubameyang. Pepe."

He wasn’t wrong.

While Giroud didn’t get on the score sheet against his former team, Aubameyang scored the goals which won the cup for Arsenal.
