Arsenal morning headlines as stance on Aubameyang transfer explained and Bayern defender eyed

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Thursday, April 9.

Gunners stance on Aubameyang

Arsenal will be doing everything they can in order to keep star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang has been linked away from the Emirates Stadium in the summer as he approaches the last season in his current Gunners’ deal.

On a live Q&A on the football.london website, Art de Roche believes it will be down to what Arsenal can offer him as he turns 31 in June this year.

“With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract reaching its final year in the summer, the Gunners are getting dangerously close to that stage (Aaron Ramsey leaving on a free to Juventus) yet again,” the Arsenal correspondent said.

Will Arsenal overhaul their defence?

“Since arriving in December, Mikel Arteta has also proposed that he aims to keep Aubameyang at the Emirates.

“No matter how much he wants the club captain to stay, however, it will be a matter of what Arsenal can offer him.

“Turning 31-years-old in June, Aubameyang will now see his career is coming to an end.”

Arsenal target Boateng from Bayern

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich this summer as Arteta tries to bolster his defensive options this summer.

Boateng has been at Bayern since 2011 after signing from Manchester City and has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe.

However, the 31-year-old has played just 16 times in the Bundesliga this season and is not a dead certain for first-team football under Hans-Dieter Flick.

Sky Germany report that the Gunners are interested in the German defender as they look to bring experience alongside the youth of William Saliba, who is coming to the club from Saint-Ettiene in the summer.

Gunners join Premier League players to launch NHS fund

Premier League players have teamed together to launch a charity fund to try and raise some money for the NHS in their battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

Players from the English top-flight have been criticised in recent weeks and been asked to take a 30% pay-cut by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

However, players from Premier League sides, including Arsenal, will join together to create a fund to raise money for the National Health Service.

“Over the course of the last week we, as a group of Premier League players, have held numerous talks together with the vision of creating a contribution fund that can be used to distribute money to where it’s needed most in this COVID-19 crisis,” read a statement released by players.

“We are determined to help in any way that we can.

“We can confirm that after extensive conversations between a huge number of players from all Premier League clubs, we have created our own player initiative, #PlayersTogether, and have partnered with NHS Charities Together (NHSCT) in order to assist them in generating and distributing funds quickly and efficiently to where they are needed most.”
