Arsenal morning headlines as Raul Sanllehi given secret weapon in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang talks

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Wednesday, June 10.

Good relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's father key to new contract

Arsenal are planning to offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new contract to extend his stay at the club and believe their strong relationship with his father, who is one of the player’s representatives, will assist them, according to the Telegraph .

Aubameyang’s contract is set to expire in 2021, making this a crucial summer as the Gunners decide either to cash in on the Gabon international or lose him for nothing next year.

However, Arsenal are reportedly determined to keep him and believe the financial impact of  football’s three-month hiatus could limit Aubameyang’s options, leading to a new deal.

The impact of Arsenal's lost match-day income

The 30-year-old has scored 17 Premier League goals this season and has performed particularly well since Mikel Arteta took the helm.

Arsenal handed a boost as Atletico Madrid prepare for life without Thomas Partey

Atletico Madrid have targeted Real Mallorca midfielder Iddrisu Baba to replace Thomas Partey, according to El GOL Digital .

Baba has impressed for Mallorca this season and reportedly has a buy-out clause of £40million, although Atleti believe they can secure his services for considerably less than that should Mallorca get relegated this season.

Their reported interest in Baba appears to suggest they are resigned to losing Partey, who Arteta is thought to be eyeing.

Partey was particularly impressive over two legs against Liverpool in the Champions League just before the suspension.

La Liga is set to resume this week, with Mallorca in action against Barcelona on Saturday June 13 and Atletico Madrid facing Athletic Bilbao on Sunday June 14.

Ray Parlour believes Arsenal need to sign a goalscoring midfielder

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has highlighted attacking midfield as the area Arteta needs to strengthen this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he argued the team lacks goalscoring prowess from deeper positions.

“The goals are not really spread around the team are they with Arsenal?” said Parlour.

“The midfield are very much more defensive minded, [Granit] Xhaka is not going to score you goals, [Lucas] Torreira’s not going to score you goals, they’ve lost [Aaron] Ramsey, who was the goal-scorer from midfield.

“So, I look at an attacking midfielder who’s probably going to score you 10 goals a season, but you’re talking big money then, so spend.”

Aubameyang aside, the only Arsenal players to have scored more than two Premier League goals this season are Alexandre Lacazette (seven), Nicolas Pepe (four), and Gabriel Martinelli (three).
