Arsenal morning headlines as Raul Jimenez added to transfer shortlist, Willian's demands

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Saturday, 25 July.

Jimenez leads four-man shortlist

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez tops a four-man shortlist of attacking players Arsenal are hopeful of signing this summer.

Le10 Sport claim the Mexican striker - who has netted 17 Premier League goals this campaign - is a target for the Gunners.

It is also reported that Lyon forward Ousmane Dembele is of interest alongside his teammate Memphis Depay - formerly of Manchester United - and Newcastle United's Allan Saint-Maximin.

Arsenal reportedly want to move on Mesut Ozil this summer, while there is uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mikel Arteta is therefore seeking attacking reinforcements ahead of his first full campaign at the helm.

Arteta ‘very confident’ on Arsenal transfer plans

Arteta is ‘very confident’ over Stan Kroenke and Arsenal’s transfer plans as the club looks to return to the elite of English football.

Arsenal are set to record their worst top-flight finish since 1995 and while the FA Cup final against Chelsea offers some hope of salvaging pride and qualifying for Europe, it is clear there needs to be activity this summer.

"I have to say that I am very confident with the way that the owners and board are approaching this crucial time for us," Arteta explained, as highlighted by football.london.

"We know that we don’t have any margin for error, that everything has to be so planned and with a great process to put the team into the next level.

"Once we know a little bit more and have more information about where we are it will be easier to make those decisions.

"I came here, I knew the challenge, to come in the middle of the season with all the issues that were happening. Once you are inside you can dig deeper and realise why things happen. It’s the consequence of many little things that happened.”

Arsenal favourites for Willian?

Arsenal acquired David Luiz from Chelsea last summer and this year they may be signing another Brazilian from Stamford Bridge.

A report in ESPN Brazil claims the Gunners believe they are leading the race for Chelsea’s Willian, while football.london highlight how the player’s preference is to remain in the capital.

The 31-year-old has spent seven seasons in west London but is out of contract this summer and Arsenal are hopeful of signing him as a free agent.

The winger has enjoyed a positive season for Frank Lampard’s side and could play against the Gunners in next weekend’s FA Cup final.
