Arsenal morning headlines as Norway wonderkid targeted and Layvin Kurzawa transfer boost

These are your Arsenal morning headlines for Friday, May 8.

Arsenal target Scandinavian starlet

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is interested in snapping up Norwegian youngster George Lewis, according to Goal.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Rwanda, is a free agent after leaving third-tier side Fram Larvik and was on trial with the Gunners earlier this year.

He was also a guest at Arsenal’s 1-0 win over West Ham United in March.

But, unlike other foreign youngsters, such as Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi, who have stepped straight into the first team, it is reported Lewis will initially link up with Steve Bould’s under-23s squad to give him time to develop.

Hero Santi wants Arsenal return

Legendary Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is keen on a return to North London – in a coaching capacity.

The diminutive Spaniard, who is back in his native country with Villarreal, would welcome the chance to link-up with Mikel Arteta, his ex-team mate at the Emirates, he told Spanish magazine Vamos.

Cazorla said: "I don’t know what my legacy is [at Arsenal].

"You would have to ask the fans, but I want to thank everyone.

"I don’t know what I will do next, maybe a coach, maybe a sports director, but I would like to come back."

The 35-year-old was with Arsenal for six years, where he twice won the FA Cup, but his later years at the club were ravaged by injury.

Kurzawa may be Emirates-bound

Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Layvin Kurzawa after Barcelona reportedly withdrew from the race to sign the Paris Saint-Germain defender.

Spanish newspaper SPORT claims that Barca are focused on signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer – giving the Gunners the chance to swoop in.

Kurzawa, who is out of contract at the end of the season, would provide competition for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

The 27 year old, capped 14 times for France, had been a long-term Barca target, but they are now firmly set on signing Argentina star Martinez.
