Arsenal morning headlines as new twist over Thomas Partey transfer and £23m playmaker pursuit

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Friday, April 24.

Arsenal will continue Partey pursuit despite denial

A denial from Thomas Partey’s agents about negotiations between the Frenchman and Arsenal will not stop the Gunners from pursuing a move for the Atletico Madrid midfielder this summer.

“Quick Note!!! In the midst of [the] transfer period - a lot of stories are created, manufactured and also alleged until the final day of the transfer period,” a statement from JJ Sports on Instagram read in response to Partey’s father claiming the 26-year-old was in talks with Arsenal.

But the Gunners will push ahead in their attempts to bring Partey to north London, as the Frenchman remains key to what Mikel Arteta wants to do at the Emirates.

Gunners handed Kokcu boost

Arsenal have been given a boost to their chances of signing Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu this summer, according to reports from the Netherlands.

Dutch publication Voetbal International (via Sports Mole) claim that the Eredivisie side will be forced to sell before they can buy in new players this summer, with Arsenal potentially to benefit.

The report says that Feyenoord will welcome offers for Kokcu, who they value at around £23million.

Gabriel asks to be kept out of the loop

Lille defender Gabriel has said that he asked his agent to not inform him of any interest from top clubs amid reports linking him with a move to the Premier League this summer.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Arsenal, as well as Everton and Chelsea, with Lille expecting to take in excess of £30million for the player.

“I follow, but I try to stay apart. I always tell my agents that, at this moment, I want to know as little as possible so as not to lose focus on the pitch,” the 22-year-old told Brazilian publication UOL, as reported by HITC.

“I’m happy to see my name being speculated with great teams. It’s the demonstration that the work done so far has been good.

“I also see many fans of [Everton and Chelsea] commenting on my posts on Instagram. It gets to be funny.”
