Arsenal morning headlines as Mikel Arteta hopes for transfer favour, Aubameyang transfer stance

Here are the Arsenal morning headlines for Thursday, June 4.

Arteta hoping for transfer favour from Arshavin

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hoping his friendship with former Gunner Andrei Arshavin will help seal Sardar Azmoun’s signature this summer.

According to Area Napoli, Arteta has contacted Arshavin, who now oversees transfers at Zenit Saint Petersburg, over a possible deal.

Azmoun, 25, has been in fine form for Zenit this term, with 10 goals and six assists to his name from 21 Russian Premier League appearances, including a hat-trick in their last game, a 7-1 win over Ural.

And Arteta hopes that Arshavin, who spent four years at Arsenal between 2009 and 2013, will help Arsenal see off competition from West Ham United and Leicester City for the striker.

Arsenal won’t sell Aubameyang for less than £20million

Arsenal are prepared to risk losing captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for free next summer unless they receive a sufficient offer for him this year.

Aubameyang, who is set to enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, is said to have previously attracted interest from Barcelona.

According to The Sun, the Gunners will not panic into selling their star striker, who has scored 17 goals in 26 Premier League games this season.

Aubameyang is keen to play in the Champions League but Arteta hopes that face-to-face talks with the Gabon international will persuade him to stay in north London.

Gunners exploring plan to ‘bring’ fans into games post-lockdown

Arsenal are considering the possibility of virtually bringing fans into the Emirates Stadium through the popular video call platform Zoom.

Arsenal are set to resume their Premier League season with a trip to face Manchester City on June 17.

And the club are exploring the practicality of using video-conferencing facilities to give supporters the closest thing to a matchday experience.

Such a method has been trialled by Danish club Aarhus, with whom Arsenal have been in contact regarding the success of the approach.

“We’re exploring multiple ways to bring fans into the stadium 'virtually',” an Arsenal spokesperson told football.london.
