Arsenal morning headlines as Mikel Arteta backed over Mesut Ozil call, fans spot team news hint

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Sunday, 25 October.

Ozil praises Rashford work

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has praised Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford for his attempts to provide free school meals throughout half-term and the Christmas holidays.

The 22-year-old has been relentless in his campaign to continue their scheme of providing meals to children outside of term time.

Despite being frustrated by parliamentary votes, multiple businesses and councils across the country have now come out in support of Rashford’s campaign

Ozil wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations on all your amazing work @MarcusRashford!

"What you’re doing is an incredible achievement that is helping so many kids here in the UK. Keep up the great work."

Gunners hint on Saliba selection?

Arsenal fans believe the club have dropped a hint that new signing William Saliba will be involved for their Premier League game against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

The central-defender arrived at the club this summer following a season on loan at Saint-Etienne, but has yet to feature for Mikel Arteta’s side this campaign.

As highlighted by football.london, many Gunners fans believe the defender’s absence from the Under-23 clash against Manchester City on Saturday is an indicator he will be involved against the Foxes.

Rodgers backs Arteta on Ozil

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers comes up against Arteta tonight and the Foxes manager has backed his counterpart on the decision to omit Ozil from Arsenal’s Premier League squad.

The German star is the highest paid player at the club but has not made the cut for Arteta’s first-team squad and has become a peripheral figure at the club.

Ozil has not played for the Gunners since March and has not been in a matchday squad since June.

"I’d be very much like Mikel. Ozil’s a talented player, but it depends on your structure," Rodgers told reporters when asked on Ozil’s omission, as per Goal.com.

“We need every player to contribute to the defensive aspect of the game as well as the attacking aspect.

"The team have to operate with one brain. They have to function and work together. There will be teams where there is more freedom, but less structure.

“Ozil’s a wonderful talent and very creative, absolutely. He can make the last pass, but it’s about the team. It’s about marrying the individual qualities of the player into the team and if you feel that player can’t press the game or doesn’t want to press the game, it has an effect on your attacking structure and your defensive structure.

“If one person doesn’t do their job, then you can suffer. He’s a talent, but, as always with talent, you have to be a working talent.”
