Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday 3 November.
Gunners beat United to Gabriel
Gabriel Magalhaes starred in Arsenal’s win at Manchester United on Sunday with an imperious defensive performance in a clean sheet for Mikel Arteta’s side.
And RMC Sport have outlined how United actually held talks to sign the Brazilian from Lille this summer, but were beaten to the punch by the Gunners.
Arsenal also beat the likes of Napoli and Lille to secure a £27million transfer for the central defender, who has made an impressive start to life in England.
United were very keen on the player but it was Arsenal who wrapped up a deal for the Brazilian.
Arteta given Ozil advice
Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn has urged the club to move on from the Mesut Ozil episode and plan for life without the playmaker.
The German is in neither the club’s Premier League nor Europa League matchday squad, and Winterburn believes he will not play for the Gunners again.
“Mesut Ozil is a terrific player and the one thing that he does give you is that he will create chances but at the same time he is not going to give you that defensive side to the game, with and without the ball, which is why he hasn’t been selected," Winterburn told FreeSuperTips, as per football.london.
“When the team aren’t creating chances then Ozil’s name will always come up and we should try and move away from that because he is not going to be part of the squad and probably won’t be involved again at the football club, so he is not an option that Arsenal can consider.”
Merson makes Partey admission
Former Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson admits he cannot believe the club managed to sign Thomas Partey this summer.
The Ghanaian arrived at the club in a £45million deal from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day last month and starred for the side in Sunday’s victory at Old Trafford.
Merson told Sky Sports, as per football.london: "It was a good away performance, it wasn't great, I wouldn't get carried away and say 'oh my God, it's a turning point'.
"They beat a terribly, terribly poor Manchester United team on the day. They've done a job, we've seen them lose those games over the last five or six years. But I think Partey's a massive, massive difference. I mean, what a signing.
"When you talk about signings in the summer, he's got to be number one. I cannot believe, without being horrible here, that Arsenal got him.
“I don't mean that in a horrible way, they're all crying out for it - I know Manchester United are top-heavy and they've got Fred, [Scott] McTominay and [Nemanja] Matic, but they haven't got a Partey."
